ALYSSA WEST, MS

Alyssa is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas, under the supervision of Rochelle Ritzi, Ph.D. She is also a National Certified Counselor. Alyssa earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University, where she received extensive training in working with children, teens, adults, families, and groups. Alyssa also has specialized training utilizing play therapy, activity therapy, EMDR, and expressive arts. Her counseling experience includes working with issues such as depression, anxiety, other mood-related issues, behavioral issues, parenting struggles, PTSD, and other issues related to life’s many challenges. Alyssa completed her internship at Denton County Friends of the Family where she counseled children and adolescents ages 3-18 who experienced trauma from domestic violence and abuse. Alyssa also worked as an advocate for Turning Point where she provided crisis intervention services to children, adolescents, and adults who survived domestic violence and sexual assault. Alyssa is also trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, and eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). 


Alyssa believes in the innate capability of all clients to work towards their personal well-being. She focuses on creating an environment where clients can feel safe to express and better understand who they are, while growing in a positive direction from the process. She is passionate about creating an environment where clients can feel heard, seen, accepted, and safe. A positive therapeutic relationship can help clients get to know their authentic selves, so they can then work towards the person they want to be. 


In her free time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her six fur babies, yoga, Pilates, traveling, and regular game nights with friends.
