When do you offer appointments?
We offer flexible scheduling Monday through Saturday. Each counselor sets their own schedule and depending on the counselor, services can start as early as 8 am and end as late as 8 pm. Please contact us to find a time that best meets your needs.
How long are sessions?
-
Individual sessions with adults are typically 50 minutes and individual sessions with children are 45 minutes. However, session duration may vary depending on if a longer session would be beneficial. For example, some family or couple sessions are longer to ensure each member of the family or couple has the opportunity to share their concerns and problem-solve solutions.
-
The first scheduled session is the intake session and is typically between 50 and 55 minutes. Before the intake, a link to the electronic paperwork is emailed via our HIPAA client secure client portal. Questions about the paperwork can be reviewed in the intake session.
What are your fees and do you take insurance?
-
Rates depend on the counselor and services that best match your needs. Group services start at $85 per session hour, and individual, couple, and family sessions range from $110 to $175 per session hour. The one-time fee for the intake session also depends on the counselor and is $140, $175, or $225.
-
We are an out of network provider and do not work directly with insurance companies. However, we can offer a super bill that can be submitted to your insurance for out of network benefits provided by your individual policy.
-
We accept HSA, FSA, credit cards, cash, and checks.
Why don't you accept insurance?
There are several reasons we are a private pay office.
-
We tailor services to meet the individual needs of each client which may differ than what insurance companies dictate.
-
Insurance reimbursement to counselors tend to be low which means our counselors would need to see more clients, and therefore spend less time individualizing the care for their current clients. We strive to spend the time and effort needed for each client and their families, whether that means consulting with other professionals, offering school visits, or offering longer or additional sessions.
-
Insurance companies require a formal diagnosis which remains on a person's permanent medical record. There may be times in which a person desires counseling for a typical, yet difficult, life stressor that does not necessitate a formal diagnosis, and this gives clients the freedom to be seen without being diagnosed.
-
Working directly with insurance companies creates a breech of confidentiality that we can often avoid by being private pay.

How do I request my records?
-
Clinical records are confidential and are written in professional language to help your therapist assess progress and tailor a treatment plan specific to you or your child. Should you choose to request a copy of these records, please submit a Contact Us Form and formally request a copy. Please note there is a $40 fee to prepare the records for release and that Bright Spot Counseling Center has 15 days to release records. Also, Bright Spot Counseling Center may refuse to release records if we believe releasing the records may harm the client. We are unable to release records without appropriate consent or a court order. In lieu of a copy of the records, we will provide a summary of services at no cost.
-
Please note: Depending on relevant laws pertaining to record retention, your records may not be available after a specific amount of time since your file was archived.
How do I file a consumer complaint?
-
