He earned his PhD in the Counseling program at Texas A&M Commerce, his Master’s degree in Counseling from Southern Methodist University, and has received specialty training in Play Therapy, Activity Therapy, Group Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, and Marriage and Family Counseling. He also has certifications in telehealth, anxiety, and working with individuals on the autism spectrum. His work experience includes both private practice and agency work, including SMU’s Center for Family Counseling, The Alternative School of Dallas, The Resource Center of Dallas, and Harold Murphy Counseling Center. In his training and extensive counseling experience, he has developed an expertise working with children, teens, adults, and families dealing with varying degrees of trauma. He has assisted clients in growing through depression, anxiety, family issues, parenting difficulties, and many other life challenges.

One of the key principals that Josh believes in is creating a non-judgmental environment for people to share what is happening in their lives. He provides a safe space to give children, adults, and families a place to express their emotions and grow. While helping clients through difficult times, he serves as a springboard to help walk with clients into a place of positive growth.

Josh loves speaking and presenting on counseling, at a multitude of national conferences and has also been published in the field of counseling. When he is not counseling he is finding ways to make his daughter laugh and spending time with his wife and newborn son.
