ASHLYN ROYAL, MS
Counselor
Ashlyn Royal is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce and has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups. Currently, Ashlyn offers online therapy to children, teens, and adults who reside in the state of Texas. Her services include individualized client care, parenting support and classes, as well as virtual play and activity therapy for children, adolescents, and teens. Teletherapy is a great option for those seeking services who prefer or require virtual support. With a secure and confidential online platform, clients can receive therapy from the comfort and privacy of their own homes as well as continue making progress towards their goals even when travel is not possible.
As part of Ashlyn’s education, she completed her internship at Arms of Hope in Quinlin, Texas. There, she conducted therapeutic groups with children ranging in ages from 4 to 18. Ashlyn also ran parent-child group counseling sessions with single mothers and their children using Trust Based Relational Interventions to help alleviate perplexing behaviors and to gain sensory awareness. She specializes in Play Therapy, working with at-risk adolescents, and aiding parents in building stronger connections with their children as well as giving parents concrete tools to use at home. Ashlyn also has conducted parenting groups using Filial Therapy, which s a therapeutic approach where parents learn how to therapeutically strengthen their connections with their children. Furthermore, Ashlyn worked at the Mental Health Clinic of Greenville where she was a Neurofeedback and brain mapping technician and also counseled children, adolescents, and adults.
Ashlyn subscribes to a holistic perspective of counseling and works with each client on an individual basis to focus on their own needs. She provides a healthy outlet for each client to express themselves and develop into the person they want to be.
Ashlyn recently completed her 200hr yoga certification and in her free time enjoys doing/teaching yoga, and has plans to incorporate yoga into her counseling practice. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading books, and being outside in nature. She feels it’s imperative to make self-care a priority when life gets overwhelming. With the help of a counselor to gently reflect and be present in the moment, Ashlyn believes anyone can achieve the goals they want with time and patience.
